Speaking at the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the decision to create Alatau City was made deliberately and was based on the international experience of the world’s leading development hubs. According to him, cities such as Dubai, Shenzhen, and Incheon demonstrate that modern urban development projects can become powerful drivers of economic growth, investment attraction, and technological development.
Particular attention during the discussion was given to shaping a unique management model for the new city. The President noted the need to promptly establish a modern regulatory framework and a favorable investment environment. At the same time, Alatau City is positioned not simply as a new urban settlement, but as an experimental platform for introducing advanced solutions in digitalization, urban infrastructure management, and the development of an innovative economy.
One of the key messages of the visit was the statement that Alatau City should become Kazakhstan’s first fully digital city. It is envisaged that urban services, transport, utility infrastructure, and the management system will be integrated on the basis of Big Data, modern digital platforms, and artificial intelligence technologies. This approach will make it possible to create a new model of the urban environment focused on efficiency, comfort, and sustainable development.
The Head of State also emphasized the importance of the timely development of basic infrastructure and instructed that the necessary conditions be ensured to launch the active phase of the project’s implementation in the very near future. According to him, the success of such large-scale initiatives is determined to a great extent by the quality of the initial stage, the speed of decision-making, and the state’s ability to create favorable conditions for private investment.
Today, Alatau City is regarded as one of Central Asia’s most ambitious urban development projects. Its development is intended not only to create a new economic hub in the Almaty agglomeration, but also to demonstrate Kazakhstan’s capacity to build modern next-generation cities that combine digital technologies, the innovative economy, and a high-quality urban environment
