Kazakhstan has become the first country in Central Asia where Direct to Cell has undergone practical testing and is now being transitioned into a consumer service. This format enables a compatible smartphone to connect directly to Starlink Mobile satellites without a satellite phone, external antenna, or additional equipment. Subscribers will be able to send and receive messages, as well as use basic internet services in locations where terrestrial mobile coverage is completely unavailable.
At the current stage, the connection is available on compatible Android devices supporting LTE/4G. To connect, users need to update the Janymda app to the latest version, activate the Starlink service in the app, and enable data roaming in the phone settings. If there is no terrestrial signal, the Beeline Starlink satellite network can be selected manually. In some cases, it is displayed as 401 04.
Starlink officially began providing satellite internet services in Kazakhstan in August 2025, but this was fixed satellite internet requiring a separate equipment kit.
